Brushes:

Try to get each of these main kind of brush styles, and if you're able, in a few different sizes, but at least one of each kind of brush listed below:

*A few different Filbert sizes will shape and place flower petals nicely.
*Various Rounds will do all kinds of detail work.
*A round Script Liner brush that has a long brush tip, will help you paint straighter lines incredibly.
*A Fan brush makes;

great impressions with thick impasto paint

spreads background washes on faster

applies gel medium used as glue to the backs of printed out templates for adhering to more
supportive canvas panels for thicker paint, or oil paint use that can't bend, or it will crack.
*A Flat straight edge in different sizes will make angled or straight shapes easy to do, like barn doors or fence lines, and enable you to double-load the brush with 2 different colors for making one stroke (Example of making a 2-tone leaf the Donna Dewberry way).

Printable Paper Sheets/Canvas:

Here are a few of many styles you can get, depending on what medium you like or want to try. Some may not be available depending on which store you go to and what area you're in, but something similar can be found online, if not at Michael's, Aaron Brothers, Office Max (Avery Printable Fabric), or your local craft store. Some good packs can be found online at Amazon.com.

Here's a Paper Type Chart to help decide what to get:

Medium Type Paper Type to Get
Acrylic Canvas Fabric sheets
Canvas Paper (greeting cards)
Acrylic
Oil
Canvas Flat Board
Canvas (3-D Frame underneath)
Watercolor
Acrylic (used with a lot of water)
Watercolor Paper
Watercolor Canvas
Canvas Paper (greeting cards)
(choose your texture)
Charcoal Charcoal Paper
Pastels Pastel Paper
Colored Pencil
Colored Pens
Smooth Drawing Paper

Craft stores will carry some of these, but mostly in a 9x12 size, that won't fit your printer at 8 ½ x 11, that you would have to cut down. However above in the chart are listed suggested options of where to buy printer size papers online.

Secret Tip! You can do a search for any paper you're looking for on Amazon.com and buy in bulk, so you save more.

(optional)

Brush Cleaner/Shaper:

Rolling a just cleaned brush in a bit of this after each use, enough to put a film on and allowed to dry, will harden the bristles and help preserve them, and make your brushes last longer. It helps keep the brush from fraying and keeps hairs neat and together. See Brush Care Tips page.

Brush Cleaning Screen:

A cleaning screen is a good idea to put in the bottom of your water can that you run your brush across, to get off paint better and faster. It helps pull brush hairs apart enough in the water to get more paint out. This will make less rinsing work for you while painting.

Gel Medium:
This adds texture, thickness, and impasto height to a painting when mixed with paints, can be sculpted with a palette knife, can be cut into shapes when dry, and is a glue to adhere your printed designs to a thicker canvas board. Milky white when wet; clear when dry.
